Board Minutes August 2006
MEHER BABA CENTER OF THE TWIN CITIES
BOARD MEETING - AUGUST 30, 2006

At Steve and Karen’s home

Present: Steve, Karen, DJ, Rogier, Pat, Sandy, Sandra Self, Bob and Monica
Leah was gone, saving the earth-

Minutes from last meeting were read. A motion was made to expunge the comment that Rogier was sleeping again. The motion failed to pass and Rogier expressed his dissatisfaction which was duly noted, a motion to approve the minutes as they stood was made by Steve and passed. Jeez!

Treasurers report
Bob passed out the treasurers report. A discrepancy of $20 was identified in the Legacy Fund.
Action: Bob agreed to research the cause. The treasurers report was approved.

Fall Sahavas
Bob handed out a draft of the registration form for the Fall Sahavas at Dunrovin.

Action: Pat agreed to call Dunrovin to find out costs for guests not staying over night, policies pertaining to pets, and the situation regarding sleeping and bathroom arrangements and the time guests can begin arriving on Friday evening.

We reviewed plans for committee work. Rogier suggested a time be set aside for “an original kitchen” chat when people could tell their Baba stories and how they are relating to Baba currently.

Pat told the group that we have been asked to sell CD’s of Baba musicians that contributed their work to Peter Rippe. They were originally to have been sold for the Katrina Sahavas in New Orleans. This is inventory that is left over and the proceeds will be used to support the Heartland Center in Prague, OK. All agreed this was an acceptable idea. The CD’s will be sold for $5 each.

Development:

Pat mentioned several fund raising proposals that had been in the works. Clea had proposed that the clinic supply contribution be made a grant similar to the Development work in India. Emory and Susan Ayers said this was impractical as the process is costly and it wouldn’t be worth it for such a relatively small donation.

Pat mentioned that we had been asked to consider an effort to raise money for the purchase of 15 acres near Meherazad that has originally been the site of the controversial chemical plant. Several major donors ultimately made gifts for the purchase and we were not asked to ask for support for this project.

However, we have been asked to provide donations to support the operations of the projects in India and the Ayers provided a grant agreement to be submitted with our first donation for this purpose. Later Bhau sent a request for support for the Beneficiaries Firstly as specified for support under Baba’s trust. It turned out that these need to be sent by each individual to the Trust Office at the A.M.B.P.P.C. and cannot be sent by our organization or we would jeopardize our non-profit status.

Great Conversations: The board expressed their gratitude to Steve Cochrane and Rogier Gregoire for their participation in our most recent Great Conversations. All agreed that is was a lovely evening and were grateful for the loving intent of both our presenters.

A motion was made to adjourn. It was noted that Rogier was awake and alert through out the entire meeting. The motion was approved and the meeting adjourned.

Next meeting will be November 19th at Pat and Sandy’s

Respectfully submitted, in Leah’s absence, but Sandy and Pat
