Khaled Alfaqih
Khaled was born in Aley, Lebanon in 1942, to a Druze family. His father, Asad Alfaqih was Saudi Arabia’s first Ambassador to the United States, as well as the then newly formed United Nations. Additionally, Asad founded the first Saudi Embassy in Washington D. C. and had numerous contacts with James Terry Duce, the Vice-President of the Arabian American Oil Company. The Alfaqih and Duce families became close friends. Khaled called Ivy, “Aunt Ivy” and later she became his Murshida. In 1962, while he was a student at UC Berkeley, Murshida Duce called Khaled to her San Francisco apartment. Upon seeing him she said, “Write your father dear, we are going to India to see God!”.
